Democrats Stuck with the Opioid Lobbyist

NASHUA, N.H. — Following the close of the candidacy filing period, Democrats are now stuck with Opioid Lobbyist Cinde Warmington as their candidate for Governor.

For years, Democrats across New Hampshire have attacked Warmington over her record of lobbying for the opioid industry and putting her personal interest ahead of what was best for New Hampshire.

Since launching her candidacy in February, Warmington’s campaign has been a flop, from calling it “weird” to lock up dangerous criminals instead of letting them out on bail, to canceling her office opening after no one showed up besides a billboard truck reminding voters of her disqualifying record. During her campaign filing, Warmington repeatedly dodged questions about her history as an opioid lobbyist, and just last week, the Democrat party chair publicly voiced his concerns about Warmington at the top of the ticket.

Warmington’s repeated blunders and lack of enthusiasm had Democrats scrambling for an alternative to no avail. With the filing period now closed, they have no choice but to embrace the opioid lobbyist they nominated.

“Opioid Lobbyist Cinde Warmington built her career by putting her own self-interest ahead of what was best for New Hampshire, lobbying for Purdue Pharma, and defending the pill mills that fueled the opioid crisis,” said Ayotte campaign spokesman John Corbett. “With New Hampshire Democrats now stuck with an opioid lobbyist as their nominee, we look forward to highlighting Warmington’s disqualifying record as an opioid lobbyist through November.”

Democrats and other Granite Staters on Cinde Warmington:

“She was a Purdue Pharma lobbyist, she called OxyContin a miracle drug. And then for over 20 years she worked for doctors and a notorious pill mill that were pushing opioids into our communities. And then she took campaign funds to the tune of almost $70,000 from these bad actors. That’s wrong.”

— Former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig, 8/27/2024

“She’s using that blood money to get herself into the governor’s office.”

— Recovery advocates opposing Cinde’s failed gubernatorial campaign, 6/4/2024

“It’s disturbing that someone running for Governor has made a career out of helping opioid companies harm our state, but it’s even more disturbing that Cinde Warmington is so willing to lie through her teeth to be elected.”

— Chad Gamache, Manchester Firefighter9/7/2024

“The dangers of opioids were known — that’s why the legislature was acting.”

— Kathy Sullivan, Former NH Democrat Party Chair, 8/6/2024

“I think it says a lot that she hasn’t apologized or shown any remorse for the work that she’s done.”

— Former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig, 8/27/2024

“For all of those who lost a family member or loved one to the ripple effects of OxyContin, have some respect. Have some decency. And end this campaign now.”

— Recovery advocates calling on Cinde to end her gubernatorial campaign, 6/5/2024

“… I am convinced it will be an issue…because New Hampshire has had such a problem with respect to opioids.”

— Kathy Sullivan, Former NH Democrat Party Chair12/1/2023

“People are tired of career politicians. They’re tired of voting for lobbyists…”

— Jon Kiper, 7/22/2024

“People across NH are disappointed with the NHDP’s selection of Cinde Warmington (again) for the Democratic candidate…Cinde wasn’t able to win the Democratic primary two years ago and there’s no way she will beat Kelly Ayotte in the general election this year.”

— Somersworth Democrat Committee, 5/20/2026

“…She’s not really bringing anything to the table that’s going to proactively motivate people to show up and say, ‘Yes, I am excited to vote for this person.’”

— Former Manchester State Rep. Tim Smith, 6/12/2026

“Cinde Warmington will lose to Kelly Ayotte because of her ties to Purdue Pharma.”
