Coming Soon: The Return of Warmington’s Massachusetts-style Energy Plan

NASHUA, N.H. — New audio from a recent campaign event in Pelham reveals that Opioid Lobbyist Cinde Warmington is preparing to revive her controversial 2024 energy plan, telling attendees she is currently “tweaking” the proposal before releasing an updated version.

During the event, Warmington said, “We put out a whole green energy economy plan in my last election. We’re tweaking that now to update it, and we’ll be putting that out.”

Warmington’s 2024 proposal called for New Hampshire to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 — an even more aggressive timeline than Massachusetts’ net-zero target of 2050. Highlights from Warmington’s Massachusetts-style plan included:

  • Ending the use of natural gas and home heating oil
  • Transitioning away from gas-powered vehicles
  • Sinking taxpayer dollars into costly green-energy mandates like disruptive offshore windmills

Despite proposing a sweeping overhaul of New Hampshire’s energy economy, Warmington declined to provide estimates for the cost of her plan or how it would impact Granite Staters’ electric bills.

“Cinde Warmington wants to bring Massachusetts-style energy policies to New Hampshire and jack up electric bills for Granite Staters,” said Ayotte campaign spokesman John Corbett. “While Governor Kelly Ayotte is fighting to lower electric bills and bring more energy to our state, Warmington would rather ban combustion engines and sink taxpayer money into expensive energy mandates that have already increased costs in Massachusetts and elsewhere. On top of that, Warmington won’t share the price tag for her disastrous net-zero plan because she knows Granite Staters won’t like the answer.”

Meanwhile, Governor Kelly Ayotte is fighting to lower Granite Staters’ electric bills and bring more energy to New Hampshire, including calling yesterday for the return of more than $1.5 billion to households across New England after federal regulators found utilities were overcharging consumers.

How Governor Ayotte is fighting to lower energy costs in New Hampshire:

  • Appointing a new Public Utilities Commission Chair who will prioritize affordability
  • Calling on New England’s grid operator to implement cost-saving measures that will help lower bills
  • Holding utilities accountable for putting their bottom lines ahead of lowering rates for families
  • Paving a pathway to next-generation nuclear power in the Granite State
  • Supporting the expansion of natural gas through projects like the Constitution Pipeline
  • Partnering with New England Governors to support the growth of nuclear energy
