New ad highlights successful effort to stop landfill at state park
NASHUA, N.H. — In a new television ad, Governor Kelly Ayotte highlights the successful effort to stop a landfill at Forest Lake State Park.
This year, Governor Ayotte also signed a new law giving local communities a voice in the siting process for new landfills, helping to protect the North Country and natural beauty all across New Hampshire.
The ad features a selfie video taken in 2024 by then-candidate for Governor Kelly Ayotte and North Country State Senator Dave Rochefort. In the video, the two commit that they would stop the landfill at Forest Lake.
The campaign released the following statement from Senator Rochefort:
“I was proud to fight alongside Governor Ayotte to stop the landfill at Forest Lake State Park and pass a new law that gives our local communities a voice when future landfill projects come up. Our natural beauty is what makes the North Country so special, and I look forward to working together to protect it for generations to come.”
