Tackling the Housing Crisis

Kelly knows housing is the top economic issue impacting the future of our state, and she’s working to make the dream of owning a home more attainable for Granite Staters. Her first year in office was the most ambitious year for housing legislation in state history. Kelly signed new laws to make it easier to build new housing, and she expanded opportunities to build new types of housing like accessory dwelling units and converting empty office space into housing.
Kelly also worked to make the building process faster by streamlining the permitting process so that state government isn’t a barrier to progress on this critical issue. Housing production is at a 20-year high in New Hampshire, with more permits being issued and more homes under construction. There’s still more to do, but Kelly’s reforms are moving our state in the right direction.
